Closing scenes

As our scenes come to a close what have we seen? What have we discovered, or rediscovered? What has changed within us?

  • Begin by chatting about the Seeds to Sow question.
  • Then as a group look at the illustrated scene for this week. What do you notice in the images, what catches your eye? What interests or intrigues you? What do you imagine is going on in this scene? The idea is that these images are storyboards for the scenes you picture in your head so there’s no right or wrong answers!
  • Then read our Bible reading for the week keeping in mind the scene you have just been discussing.
  • Then return to the image and go through the accompanying questions.

SEEDS TO SOW: What ‘endings’ from books, films or other media have always stayed with you?

This week’s scene: Unexpected visitors showing up at the door. Look at the images for the scene. Discuss as a group what you think is going on. (The pink panel above on the far right.)

Read Hebrews 13: 1-2 (feel free as a group to read more together but we are focusing on these two verses in our questions)

Q: How does the scene affect what’s in your mind as you read the text? What could the story be behind these images? Who is knocking at the door and how does their presence change how the hosts are feeling?

Q: How does reading the text change how you see the scene? Is there a particular word that leaps out at you that changes how you choose to interpret the scene?

Q: How does God use people to bless others in unexpected ways? Do you think God enjoys surprising us?
