Green for peace

Lying on our back in a green meadow beside a stream, is a dream of peace we probably all share.   At the coldest time of the year, we long to see the first green shoots of bulbs, or trees beginning to bud.  Green is the colour of nature which puts us at ease in a busy world.

Prayer

Lord, I’d like to make some space in my day, before it becomes filled with what-needs-to-be-done and who-needs-to-see-me.
Space, and time, Lord, to be with you.
Wiser heads than mine have said that if I spend time in silence - for your to speak to me -
you will indeed speak . . .  and I’ll be able to hear you.
Help me to close out busy thoughts; strains of music; the distant traffic; family voices.
Just you and me.
I remember how great you are, Lord, and my mind can’t really take that in !
That the creator of wide world is interested in me, and my peace of mind . . . or the lack of it !
Help me to do this every day, Lord.   When I’m busy it seems like I can’t fit it in,
but now I’m here with you, Lord, it feels like I can’t miss out on this.|
Fill my mind with your peace, Lord, the peace the Bible says is beyond understanding –
something to experience rather than analyzing it.
And during today, when things get busy or I’m hassled, help me to take a moment to revisit this feeling, and regain my peace in you.

Amen.
