Winning

1 Corinthians 9:24-25

Do you not know that in a race all the runners run, but only one gets the prize? Run in such a way as to get the prize. Everyone who competes in the games goes into strict training. They do it to get a crown that will not last, but we do it to get a crown that will last forever.

Abba Father, it is sometimes said the ‘winner takes it all’ and that our faith life has been compared to that of a race to salvation, and somehow the journey of life will have winning posts and also rans.

Be the trainer, Lord Jesus, upon which the exercises of our life and faith are built. Show us the direction to put effort in your service. Discipline us to witness to the goals and achievements You desire us to reach.

Loving God, turn our disappointments and testing times into an opportunity to reassess and be upheld by Your love. May the mysterious actions of grace come to us through the response of those who train with alongside us in our race.

Let Your victory be one where the sick sense healing, the broken begin to mend, and the options to cope become clearer. As the prize of new life and life everlasting is offered to every participant no matter where or when they begin or finish.
