Losing

James 4:8

Draw near to God, and he will draw near to you.

Lord Jesus, draw us near to God when we feel we have lost. For losing can bring a broken perspective from the truth of the circumstances we find ourselves trapped within. Provide the security and encouragement we seek when lost in the spirals of life.

May the words the comfort we find in Your message be supported by the action they inspire in us. Let us think of those in our circle, from family and friends, to those who are present but who we do not ‘see’. Open our eyes and hearts to be aware of those who perceive they are powerless.

Help us to identify the powers needed for the kingdom of heaven to be a reality in our communities and individual relationships; the power to challenge those we see being bullied; the appropriate response when faced with the indifferent neighbour; the opportunities to listen to the frustrations of those who feel helpless in their problems.

Lord, gamble on changing us from disciples into your modern apostles. Partner God give us the ability to reflect on patterns of behaviour that lead us to acts of kindness and generosity.
