Matthew 11: 28-30 (NRSVA)

28 ‘Come to me, all you that are weary and are carrying heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. 29 Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me; for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30 For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.’

We begin this week with a simple, restful dialogue:

‘Are you weary?’

‘Yes’

‘Is there too much to carry?’

‘Oh, yes’

‘Come to me’

PRAYER:

Lord

Thank you that at any time

Any time

I can exchange my heavy yoke for yours

Mine is built up of layer upon layer of anxieties, fears, pressures, expectations, responsibilities, and so on

Yours is woven in strands of gentleness and humility, shot through with light

Thank you for carrying mine for a while, as I rest under the grace of yours.
