The gift of life

Albert Bogle July 12, 2016 0 0

2 Corinthians 4: 17-18

“For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all.  So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.”

How easy it is to take the gift of life for granted. To think that everything will always be the way it is now. Yet we all know that nothing stays the same. Within a few seconds your life can change for ever. There is so much that can be achieved or lost in a day. Learning to appreciate the people and the things that surround us is an essential part of being content. And when we feel discontent it is essential to be reminded that the things we worry about now will one day pass. Reflecting upon the truth of this can help us put our troubles in a better perspective.

Regardless what you have to face today, take time to acknowledge the world around you. There is always something that you can be positive about. It is when we turn our gaze outward we see a new perspective.

Lord,
Help me understand myself
I need to be at peace
I’m sorry about my restless spirit
Forgive me when I overlook beauty
And gaze on the ugly
When I concentrate on the obvious
And overlook the significance of the insignificant

Guard me from the impulsive action
that has unending consequences.

Help me to look over my thoughts today:
before I act
before I speak
before I even think

Guide me to move in the right direction
Give me the insight to see the beauty that surrounds me
In the eyes of a child
In the tone of a voice
Turn my head and heart to see and feel the goodness of your creation.
