Too precious to knock down?

September 22, 2015 0 0

Ecclesiastes 3:3

God sets a time for killing and a time for healing,
a time to tear down and a time for building

Reflection
You may like to use symbols of some building bricks or stones as a focus for your prayers.
Take a moment to play with your blocks or stones and build anything that pleases you. Remember the joy as a child of building towers and knocking them down. Knock down what you have just built. Reflect on your feelings – were you reluctant to knock down your creation? What have you been building over the year? Is it too precious to knock down?

Prayer
Ever-creating God,
forgive me when I think what I do is too special,
forgive me when I cling on to my habits and familiar patterns,
forgive me when I get stuck in a rut of my own making,
help me tear down all that is not of you.
God who never stands still,
give me faith to follow you
wherever you lead,
renew me in mind, body and spirit,
sweep though me with your holy fire.
