The Voice Persists

Psalm 46

God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear, though the earth give way and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea,  though its waters roar and foam and the mountains quake with their surging.

The LORD Almighty is with us; the God of Jacob is our fortress.

"Be still, and know that I am God”.

I used to think of myself as being switched-on, in-touch, keeping –up.
Music, movies, books news,
I had it all covered.
But now the volume, the pace, the extent of it all!
Things come and go,
And not just,
Music, movies, books, news.
The things that once seemed so certain,
The things I believed,
The values I cherished,
The lifestyle I aspired to,
I was sure it was all the way, the truth, the life.
I still believe.
But so few find the way,
The truth is one among so many,
And life is what you make it not what is given.

How does something that was once so big become so small?

But that Voice persists.
In everything that comes and goes there are eternal things.
Hold me to the words of Jesus.
Like the man who built on rock,
Help me to listen to His Word,
Help me to embrace His Word,
Help me to stay connected to the World but consumed by the Word.
