The Gift of Faith

1Corinthians 12:7-11

7 Now to each one the manifestation of the Spirit is given for the common good. 8 To one there is given through the Spirit a message of wisdom, to another a message of knowledge by means of the same Spirit, 9 to another faith by the same Spirit, to another gifts of healing by that one Spirit, 10 to another miraculous powers, to another prophecy, to another distinguishing between spirits, to another speaking in different kinds of tongues, and to still another the interpretation of tongues. 11 All these are the work of one and the same Spirit, and he distributes them to each one, just as he determines.

Father some days we feel our faith is so strong that we could be of some service in Your Church.
Other days, Lord, we feel weak, exposed, and vulnerable;
Our great plans become shaky and we tremble with doubt.
Suddenly we seem to be going nowhere fast.
How can we achieve anything for you when our faith blows like this, in the wind?

But Jesus you remind us that at Pentecost a different Wind blew into the upper room.
The Holy Spirit filled Your disciples with faith, purpose and power.

Lord please fill us with the faith we need to build your Church.
Teach us not to be fooled by our emotions for it is they that blow in the wind.

Lord You said you would never leave us;
And we know that You are a faithful God.

So we must be strong and know that You don’t ask us to do anything we can’t.
We must realise that ‘we can do anything through Christ who gives us strength’.

Please, Lord, send each of us the gift of Faith.

Amen.
