Teenage Children

Colossians 3: 20-21

Children, obey your parents in everything, for this pleases the Lord.
Fathers, do not embitter your children or they will become discouraged.

Lord, caring for teenage children is hard!

Well you know that better than anyone, we have all gone our own way and yet you still love us.

You sent us Jesus to show your father heart of love for us all.

Teenagers always think they know best and demand to be allowed to do what they want, demand their rights and think in ways that are so hard to understand.

Lord, give me wisdom and understanding to know how to respond to their needs.

Give me grace to listen and not to respond in anger and resentment when faced with an issue that offends.

Help me to see beyond the latest fashion in dress to the real person whom you created.

Give me the gift of mercy which allows us to accept that which challenges our beings.

Teach me to love our teenagers enough to say, no!

Lord, be my strength and may I be your enabler in your name.

Amen
