The song of the redeemed

Listen to this daily worship
Psalm 51: 10-15 (NIVUK)
10 Create in me a pure heart, O God,
and renew a steadfast spirit within me.
11 Do not cast me from your presence
or take your Holy Spirit from me.
12 Restore to me the joy of your salvation
and grant me a willing spirit, to sustain me.13 Then I will teach transgressors your ways,
so that sinners will turn back to you.
14 Deliver me from the guilt of bloodshed, O God,
you who are God my Saviour,
and my tongue will sing of your righteousness.
15 Open my lips, Lord,
and my mouth will declare your praise.
God of all creation, create in me!
David knows how he needs purity of heart, and God’s renewing to keep his heart that way. But more than that, he knows he needs relationship with God. What he needs is dynamic life with God, breathing in and out with Him, heart beating life and quickened by the joy that comes from being rescued. His longing is palpable.
And then? Oh, then he will sing the song of the redeemed! How could he keep silent?
Have you been forgiven? Have you been rescued? Those who have known God’s mercy have the most beautiful, compelling story to tell.
Prayer:
Lord
In the quiet, remind me of places where I have known Your mercy in my life. Where have You brought healing and wholeness?
And how would you have me minister to others in need of that healing?
Open my lips, Lord, and my mouth will declare Your praise!
Amen
