Sincerity, Integrity.

Psalm 51:17

Psalm 51.17
The sacrifice acceptable to God is a broken spirit; a broken and contrite heart, O God, you will not despise.

Acts 5: 1-2
But a man named Ananias, with the consent of his wife Sapphira, sold a piece of property; with his wife’s knowledge, he kept back some of the proceeds, and brought only a part and laid it at the apostles’ feet.

Lord, you demand nothing
Yet you ask everything.
I want to respond – wholeheartedly
But sometimes it’s hard.
I fear to give my all;
I fear to hold nothing back;
I fear I might disappear;
That in losing my life in you, I will lose myself.

I know that you respect this
That you will not ask more than I am ready to give,
Nor demand unwilling sacrifices.
Rather you ask for sincerity,
Integrity.
Help me to believe it
In my heart of hearts
So that I am not tempted
To pretend to give more than I am comfortable with.
That I can stand before you, unafraid
That we can walk together into a future
Where my honesty sets me free from fear
And I am able to give my all.
