Resurrection Day

Albert Bogle July 10, 2016 0 0

Revelation 21:4

And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.

After months of planning and training, the footballers of France and Portugal will today awaken to realise for them the dreaming time is over, it’s now or never!  This is the day of glory or despair! The same feelings no doubt will resonate with both Andy Murray and Milos Raonic as they face each other in what for Andy is his third Wimbledon final.

How good would it be if you could go and play the game knowing in the end you will be the winner? Some people argue that is what makes a winner. It is to believe and claim the victory before it happens.

Sunday for the Christian Community throughout the world is our ‘Day of Glory’. This is the day when despair turned to victory. This is Resurrection Day. The day of new beginnings - the day to celebrate all that is still to come. This is the day we are reminded to play the game of life to the full, to enjoy the struggle because the victory has been won. Jesus is God’s new creation. He has come to give us a new world view, but also the faith to believe in the victory for ourselves before it has happened. It is surely this belief that will in the end change a world of prejudice and hate. We must be people who look to the future and speak of hope in the darkness.

Lord,
Thank you for life!
Thank you that I’m alive in your world
Processing so much,
through these blood vessels,
Colours, sounds and feelings.
You have made us truly amazing

Thank you for emotions!
The ability to appreciate beauty
The will to turn from evil
The insight to set my heart to strive for peace
The courage to live joyfully
Even through tears and laughter
Fear and faith
Hope and doubt

Lord,
Give me throughout all  the circumstances of life
The will to believe and live
Resurrection Day
Even when it feels like Friday!
