Remembrances

Joshua 1:9

Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.

Remembrances invites not only to think about the commitment  of others but also to be full of thanksgiving and gratitude for those who have committed their all to give us a future.

Remembrance is a call to repentance . It is an invitation  to all of us to seek the common peace in our world and also in our personal lives.

Let us come together and confess our collective contribution to the injustice in the world. as we Pray together

Lord,
Forgive us
When we stand dumb
in the face of injustice
and expect others to speak out

Lord,Challenge us
When we stand dumb
In the face of the courage of others
and take their  sacrifice for granted

Lord,
Rebuke us
When we stand dumb
In the face of defiant indifference
Without nailing our colours to the mast

Turn
our hearts to feel
the shame
the remorse
the relentless torture
of combat troops
living with memories
lived out in silence
and guilty lives  relived in repentance
Over and over again

Hear our cry  for all this night who long for peace
but who can find no rest
Hear our cry as we pray for those seeking
to be understood on the end of a phone.
Hear our cry for those who are at their wits end
longing to be understood.

Amen
