Refreshing and healing

Revelation 22: 1-2

The angel also showed me the river of the water of life, sparkling like crystal, and coming from the throne of God and of the Lamb and flowing down the middle of the city’s street.  On each side of the river was the tree of life, which bears fruit twelve times a year, once each month; and its leaves are for the healing of the nations.

Creator God, you ask us to tread gently on the earth you have given us.
Let the waters which sparkle and shine like crystal
be respected and treasured as if it were a jewel.
Let the trees which bear fruit with continual regularity
be allowed to flourish and heal our excesses.

Jesus Christ, who walked the roads of villages, mountainsides and cities, walk with me;
Let my steps be sure and faith-full as I follow your way.
Along the way teach me how to be a good companion to those who may be strange to me.

Spirit of life, who quenches thirst and brings hope to birth;
Help me to see the life and promise which you have made possible.
Hold me, encourage me, help me to accept the abundance of your gift.  Amen.
