Old powerlessness, new strength…

Listen to this daily worship
Isaiah 40: 29 (NIVUK)
29
He gives strength to the weary
and increases the power of the weak.
I know I’m an over-committer! I have often heard it said that if you want a job done, ask a busy person. In my case it’s ask a person who can’t say no (yes that’s me!). It can all go well until something unexpected hits — an illness — a crisis — life in general. That’s when things go awry and we become exhausted. We all have to learn to pace ourselves.
This verse is such a comforting reminder that God is there in our moments of exhaustion— not with judgment, but with strength. When we’re running on empty, physically, emotionally, or spiritually, today’s reading tells us that we don’t have to rely on our own energy tanks. God gives strength. It’s amazing that it's a gift, not something earned.
And do you know — admitting we’re weak isn’t failure; it’s the place where God steps in. We can be assured that God is there for us always.
It also reminds us that God doesn't ignore the weary — He uplifts them. Whether we're overwhelmed by life, grieving, or just spinning too many plates, His strength is not only available but everlasting.
Prayer:
Heavenly Father,
We come before You in our weakness,
worn out by everything going on and weary from it all.
Thank You for being the One who never grows tired,
offering strength when our reserves are low.
You promise to lift up the weary and empower the weak —
so today, let us receive.
Fill us with Your strength, Lord —
not just to get through, but to step onward in faith,
renewed by Your grace and sustained by Your love.
When we feel that we can’t take another step,
remind us that You walk with us.
You are with us, within us, and before us.
Help us trust that Your power shows up strongest when we have none left
In Jesus' name we pray,
Amen.
