Love never gives up…

Mark 2: 1-5

A few days later, when Jesus again entered Capernaum, the people heard that he had come home. They gathered in such large numbers that there was no room left, not even outside the door, and he preached the word to them.

Some men came, bringing to him a paralysed man carried by four of them.

Since they could not get him to Jesus because of the crowd, they made an opening in the roof above Jesus by digging through it and then lowered the mat the man was lying on. When Jesus saw their faith, he said to the paralysed man, “Son, your sins are forgiven.”

“As I have loved you, love one another….” (John 13:34,35) How do we love like Jesus?  Once more we turn to those who have tried.

The friends couldn’t reach Jesus by ‘normal’ means.  The place was moving with people – many as desperate as they were to see Jesus.  Did they say: “Well, at least we tried…”?  No!  They came up with a cunning plan that involved a lot of ingenuity and effort.  And their efforts paid off.  Because of their faith, their friend found the healing he needed.

Lord,

help me to love with determination.

Help me to love with faith.

Help me to love all I come across

to where they,

and I,

belong -

help me to love them

into your hands

and your heart.

because that’s the kind of love

you have for everyone,,,

Thank you.

Amen.
