Galatians 6: 6–10 (NRSVA)

6 Those who are taught the word must share in all good things with their teacher.

7 Do not be deceived; God is not mocked, for you reap whatever you sow. 8 If you sow to your own flesh, you will reap corruption from the flesh; but if you sow to the Spirit, you will reap eternal life from the Spirit. 9 So let us not grow weary in doing what is right, for we will reap at harvest time, if we do not give up. 10 So then, whenever we have an opportunity, let us work for the good of all, and especially for those of the family of faith.

“From life's first cry to final breath

Jesus commands my destiny…

Till He returns or calls me home

Here in the power of Christ I'll stand”

(from verse 4 of ‘In Christ Alone’ by Keith Getty and Stuart Townend)

Ah, gracious Lord,

The road seems long ahead.

From that first breath of new life until today,

And I pray until that final breath,

May my whole life be directed by Jesus my Saviour.

Be patient with me in adversity.

When the heavy rain comes and it seems like the harvest will be swept away,

When the empty noise of the mocker rings loudly in my ears,

And it appears that your harvest will never be gathered in.

Hope delayed withers, hope mocked shrivels,

May the power of Christ in me enliven hope.

Be merciful to me when I am weary.

Because sowing the good seed is tiring,

Because taking hold of that new opportunity to do good seems beyond my strength,

And I fear that my weariness will diminish your harvest.

Even the strong grow weary, even the youthful grow tired.

In the power of Christ may I not only stand but advance your harvest.

Son of God,

High King of Heaven,

Rise and shine upon us.

May our eyes see the glory of your presence,

Shining on the abundance of your ingathered harvest.

From every age of creation,

From every language and tribe,

More than we can number or tell,

May the harvest of your gracious gospel be without limit.

In our present weariness,

Encourage us with the glorious vision of your completed work.

Till Christ returns or call us home,

Every day the Spirit fills us,

Every day the Father loves us,

We will not give up!
