God of the powerless

February 19, 2014 0 0

Matt 5:3

Happy are those who know that they are spiritually poor, The Kingdom of heaven belongs to them

In a world where often power speaks and the people are ignored,
Let your kingdom come, let your will be done,
In the places of decision making and the hearts of the decision makers.

Let your kingdom come, let your will be done,
In the moments where compromise for powers sake is about to override the needs of those without power.

Let your kingdom come, let your will be done,
In the debates that are more about politics and less about the needs of the people, more about point scoring and less about priorities for those in need.

Let your kingdom come, let your will be done,
When deals are made and coalitions formed,
When agreements are hammered out and understandings signed,
Where negotiations bring change and hope is relit,

Let your kingdom come, let your will be done,
So that the powerless are heard and the powerful listen
So that our politics brings peace and our politicians truly serve
So that we find we can trust again in those who make choices on our behalf

God of the powerless let your kingdom come, let your will be done

Amen
