God of inclusion

Galatians 3:26-28

for in Christ Jesus you are all children of God through faith. As many of you as were baptised into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ. There is no longer Jew or Greek, there is no longer slave or free, there is no longer male and female; for all of you are one in Christ Jesus.

God of inclusion,

Count us in, we pray. Count us in to the breath-taking adventure of togetherness, where your “yes!” is there in glorious response to our heartfelt question marks.

So often, our well-argued adult reasoning leads us to our own very human “no!”. We like to think we are clever. We convince ourselves that our grown-up sophistication is enough to help us know the best ways forward in life’s complex maze.

Then, at those times when we pride ourselves on being so very able, so highly qualified, stun us into seeing the true extent of Christ’s dying and undying love – the Passion which death itself can never, never overcome. Show us that the “come on in!” of your love is always, always there. AMEN.
