Friends who are always there

Though one may be overpowered,
two can defend themselves.
A cord of three strands is not quickly broken.
Jesus, brother and friend
thank you for those friends
who are always there.
Months pass
sometimes years
but in reconnecting
the months, or the years
fall away.
For those friends whose journeys
parallel mine
so that in meeting again
we discover that nothing was lost
by not travelling the road together.
For those friends
for whom friendship matters more
than the convention of phone calls
or visits.
Who remain with us
in heart and in mind
even when separated by time and distance.
Thank you for those friends.
