Falling short

Micah 6:8

Micah 6.8
He has told you, O mortal, what is good;
and what does the Lord require of you but to do justice, and to love kindness,
and to walk humbly with your God?

Acts 5: 1
But a man named Ananias, with the consent of his wife Sapphira, sold a piece of property; 2with his wife’s knowledge, he kept back some of the proceeds, and brought only a part and laid it at the apostles’ feet.

Lord, forgive me when I fall short
When I stumble and struggle
On my journey with you.

Forgive me when I use my power unwisely
For selfish ends rather than for good.
More concerned with appearances
Than with the truth within my heart.

You see it, Lord
You know when I lie, even to myself
Perhaps especially to myself!

You see the dark places
The hidden places
The secret places

Your gaze penetrates this darkness
As if it were noonday.

Forgive me, Lord.
And help me to be open with you
As I am open to you.
