Dawn of a New Day

Revelation 21:4

“and He will wipe away every tear from their eyes; and there will no longer be any death; there will no longer be any mourning, or crying, or pain; the first things have passed away."

‘The dream is ended; this is the morning.’ CS Lewis, The Chronicles of Narnia

Sometimes Sunday’s can be tough.  It can be difficult to let go of all of the things that have happened the other 6 days of the week and to allow ourselves to take rest.

In a way, our Mondays to Saturdays can feel a bit like Narnia- we live in a separate world with our own obstacles to overcome: deadlines to meet, families to care for; health conditions to manage; loved ones to bereave; relationships to tend to and the countless other trials we persevere with in our everyday life.

We can struggle to see past the difficulties in our lives and trust in God’s plan; we allow the adversity to have a power over us that it doesn’t deserve.

Only when we give our troubles and heartaches to the Lord and trust in him, can we wake from the slumber to see the dawn of a new day.

Sunday is our time for rest and reflection- to spend time with God, away from all the chaos, to thank him for all the good things in our lives and to give us the strength for the week ahead.

Lord help us to take time out of our busy lives to bring our souls to rest with you.
Help us to meditate and reflect on your word
Give us the strength to allow this to fill our hearts and minds to prepare us for the coming week
Thank you for the peace you grant us through your son, Jesus Christ.
Forgive us when we allow our circumstances and hardships to take control
We submit these things into your hands and place our hope in you
We rejoice for death has been defeated and the victory is ours
Thank you that we have awoken, as if from a deep sleep,
to see the dawn of a new day: ‘the dream is ended; this is the morning.’
