New Podcast: Restless Sanctuary!

James Cathcart tells just about our new series!
We are excited to launch a new podcast 'Restless Sanctuary' made by myself and Albert Bogle about faith, restlessness and the search for meaning! In each episode we share what it’s like to be restless Christians, wrestling with the Bible and spirituality as we are trying to live it out today.
Right now our world is very restless — politically, economically, culturally, technologically and environmentally. We are living through an age of disruption and upheaval. Old norms are being flipped on their heads and established principles challenged. There’s a lot of upheaval as we move into a new chapter for humanity and for our planet. Many of us are longing for a sense of sanctuary, for belonging, and direction to help us face new and unprecedented challenges.
Sometimes we find ourselves on the outside looking in, longing for peace, for sanctuary, for somewhere to rest our weary feet and our weay souls. Other times we are in the sanctuary but looking out, our feet itchy and spirits ready to set sail.
At the root of Christianity we uncover a restlessness in God’s heart that mirrors our own. A deep longing and restless love that searches out for each one of us. We glimpse God in the faces of one another in need and in God we glimpse our own human yearning for wholeness and love.
Albert and I reckon Jesus offers sanctuary and respite for our restless souls, but that it is often a restless sanctuary, a temporary makeshift shelter in a world that we are called in turn to go out and love. Our sanctuary is always on the move, it’s going somewhere. It’s not a retreat from the world, it’s a way of being in the world.
The ship in our logo made by Jack Steel, is itself a restless sanctuary on the open water — not a shelter from the storm but a shelter through the storm.
So join us every fortnight for fascinating discussions about being restless Christians in a restless world!
Please share with friends, family, congregations, colleagues, classmates and anyone who is restless to discover more about faith, meaning, and the human soul!
You can listen to our first episode: Restless Sanctuary 1: What happens when we start with belonging? very soon! In the meantime you can get a head start by subscribing to the Sanctuary Podcast on Spotify, Apple Podcasts and most other podcasting platforms!
