Matthew 11: 26-30 (NRSVA)

26 yes, Father, for such was your gracious will. 27 All things have been handed over to me by my Father; and no one knows the Son except the Father, and no one knows the Father except the Son and anyone to whom the Son chooses to reveal him.

28 ‘Come to me, all you that are weary and are carrying heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. 29 Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me; for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30 For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.’

Because he is, ‘The way the truth and the life!’

God’s sphere of influence is an upside down one. He takes great delight in raising up the weak and showing up the weakness of the ‘know-alls’. In these verses Jesus continues to reveal more about himself. He invites weary worn burdened souls, like you and me, into his life — into his world — in order that we might come to know God our Heavenly Father and be completely fulfilled.

The responsibilities that Jesus places on our shoulders is work that he has tailor made for us. He will never ask you to step out in faith to carry a burden that is beyond your capabilities. The awe inspiring thought is that as we bear one another’s burdens we discover that we are being drawn into the heart of God our Father — for as we live with Jesus we discover he is revealing more and more things to us about God.

Jesus does the introductions. ‘Albert” he says, “This is Father, Father this is Albert.”

And Father replies, “I have known you Albert from before the foundations of the world!“
