Where sparrows nest

Listen to this daily worship
Psalm 84: 3 (NRSVA)
3 Even the sparrow finds a home,
and the swallow a nest for herself,
where she may lay her young,
at your altars, O Lord of hosts,
my King and my God.
I have a little necklace that I like to wear made by the monks at a place called Taizé in France. Some of you may know it, it is a place which welcomes thousands of young people, and a few not so young people, from all over the world to come and spend a week or two living the rhythm of the community and worshipping three times a day. The little necklace is of a sparrow.
Taizé is one of the places in my life I have found a home, there have been many homes in my life, some fleeting and some steady, some hard to get comfortable in and some that felt like they had been made for me.
As I get older I find it harder to restart my life and make a home somewhere new but the little bird on my necklace reminds me that just as God helps the sparrow find and build a little nest perched in a tree, so God will help me find ways to feel at home in myself, and in wherever I find myself next.
PRAYER:
Dear God of new nests
Thank you that wherever we go you are with us
Thank you that wherever we land you are waiting for us
Help us to weave things into our life which make a home
Send us eyes to find the branches meant for us to build on.
Amen
