Water for a thirsty land.

Isaiah 41: 18-20

I will make rivers flow on barren heights,
and springs within the valleys.
I will turn the desert into pools of water,
and the parched ground into springs.
I will put in the desert
the cedar and the acacia, the myrtle and the olive.
I will set junipers in the wasteland,
the fir and the cypress together,
so that people may see and know,
may consider and understand,
that the hand of the Lord has done this,
that the Holy One of Israel has created it.

COME, SPIRIT OF GOD….
To our own lives –
To all that is dry and barren,
To all that is angry and tired,
To all that is fearful and anxious –
To all that is bitter or resentful –

Come, Spirit of God.

To our communities –
To families that are struggling,
To children who are unhappy,
To elderly folk worried about tomorrow,
To workers fearful of  losing their jobs…

Come, Spirit of God.

To our world –
To nations divided and at war,
To lands of tyranny and oppression,
To refugees, exiled from their homeland,
To all places of despair and no hope

Come Spirit of God.

Amen.
