Psalm 100 (NRSVA)

1 Make a joyful noise to the Lord, all the earth.
2     Worship the Lord with gladness;
    come into his presence with singing.

3 Know that the Lord is God.
    It is he that made us, and we are his;
    we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture.

4 Enter his gates with thanksgiving,
    and his courts with praise.
    Give thanks to him, bless his name.

5 For the Lord is good;
    his steadfast love endures for ever,
    and his faithfulness to all generations.

For the last ten weeks or so, millions of people across the UK have gathered outside their front doors to clap their hands, bang pots or play musical instruments in gratitude for our NHS and frontline workers. After ten weeks, the originator, Annemarie Plas, suggested that it was best to bring the clapping to a conclusion while at its peak… We are truly blessed to have such incredible people putting others ahead of themselves at this time.

How often do we clap our hands in praise of the Lord, our God?
How often do give the maker of heaven and earth a standing ovation?

Unlike clapping for carers, God’s love for creation never peaks.
God’s love endures forever.
And for that, may we be truly thankful…

PRAYER:

Everlasting God of everlasting love,
We praise you for your eternal goodness and grace.
Sometimes the words, ‘Thank You’ don’t seem enough,
But they are all we have…

Thank you for loving us.
Thank you for loving us so much that you sent your Son to die for us.
Thank you for never letting us go,
even when we let you down…

Thank you, Lord. Amen.
