John 21: 2

' Simon Peter, Thomas ( also known as Didimus), Nathanael from Cana in Galillee, the sons of Zebedee and two other disciples were together. I'm going out to fish, Simon Peter told them and they said, 'We'll go with you' So they went out and got into the boat, but that night they caught nothing.'

During this coming week we join the disciples after the resurrection in all their questioning about the future.
They decide to do something totally 'normal' and go fishing but they catch nothing, until....

Then, Simon Peter  takes us on his journey of discovery as to the future.

John 21.3. 'I'm going out to fish Simon Peter told them.'

I gave him my all.
I travelled the roads with him.
I witnessed the miracles.

I witnessed the crucifixion.

I thought there was nothing...
and now?

I might as well do what I'm good at...
and fish.

Lord,
when we think we've given our all
and feel alone.
Touch us
with your loving presence.

When our travelling time overwhelms us,
come alongside
in your risen power
And encourage us on the road.

Miracle! Lord!
When we lose sight
of the miracle
of life,
resurrect our vision of your call.

When we think of your giving
for us
on the cross,
anoint us afresh
with the riches of your grace.

And when we imagine there is
nothing,
fill us afresh
With your resurrection hope.
Amen
