Psalm 23

A psalm of David.

The Lord is my shepherd, I lack nothing.
He makes me lie down in green pastures,
he leads me beside quiet waters,
he refreshes my soul.
He guides me along the right paths
for his name’s sake.
Even though I walk
through the darkest valley,
I will fear no evil,
for you are with me;
your rod and your staff,
they comfort me.

You prepare a table before me
in the presence of my enemies.
You anoint my head with oil;
my cup overflows.
Surely your goodness and love will follow me
all the days of my life,
and I will dwell in the house of the Lord

The dream has ended - this is the morning! The original idea of our Summer theme was one of expectation. Looking forward to brighter and better days. I know for many people that is not how things have worked out.  Its hard to move out of the Shadowlands when there are so many sad and destructive things happening in the world all around us.

Help me see glory

In every story

Of shame and rejection

Give me perception

To recognise when I’m carrying a cross

Rather than a burden

Teach me how too survive

In the valley of shadows

Grant me the courage to move forward

Into the light

Give strength to all who struggle under law

Lighten their load

And bring them to the place of peace

Where the nightmare has ended

And the Summer has just begun.
