Set a watch on my path

Matthew 13:19

“Hear then the parable of the sower: When anyone hears the word of the kingdom and does not understand it, the evil one comes and snatches away what has been sown in his heart. This is what was sown along the path.”

This week we are reflecting upon the parable of The Sower. It is a parable that invites us to think about how the word of God already sown in our hearts, is now growing into fruitfulness.
The seed is a small thing but it contains great potential. The sower sows generously and the seed falls on varied types of soil.
Today we will reflect upon how we receive the word. Let’s make sure the work we have been called to do is not stolen from under our noses.

Lord,

I’ve been thinking about the seeds that have been stolen out of my life.

The seeds that might have grown,

into ideas,

plans,

promises.

The opportunities,

I didn’t quite understand,

left lying on the path of life,

snatched out of my heart

before they could root.

Evil is a word stealer,

and a seed destroyer

a life denier

Set a watch on my path

Ring a bell

Give me a shout.

Remind me when evil draws near.

Lord,

I don’t want to lose any more seeds.
