Acts 4:1-4

Peter and John Before the Sanhedrin

4 The priests and the captain of the temple guard and the Sadducees came up to Peter and John while they were speaking to the people. 2 They were greatly disturbed because the apostles were teaching the people, proclaiming in Jesus the resurrection of the dead.3 They seized Peter and John and, because it was evening, they put them in jail until the next day. 4 But many who heard the message believed; so the number of men who believed grew to about five thousand.

Wonder working God,
Father, Son and Holy Spirit,
how great you are.

You are the God who made all legs,
you are the God who with a word can fix all legs,
we thank you for all the signs of your power
open our eyes that we may see more clearly,
you, our God, at work among us.

We thank you,
God of resurrection power,
that our Lord Jesus Christ,
came alive from the tomb,
that his legs carried him up from death,
that his now risen feet hit the dusty roads of Palestine.
Mighty God,
raise us by that same resurrection power
into the new life of Christ,
may our legs carry us in to service:
of our risen Lord,
of those who need our help.

Strengthen our pilgrim legs for your service
as we pray together today. Amen.
