John 12:1-3

Six days before the Passover Jesus came to Bethany, the home of Lazarus, whom he had raised from the dead.
There they gave a dinner for him. Martha served, and Lazarus was one of those at the table with him.
Mary took a pound of costly perfume made of pure nard, anointed Jesus’ feet, and wiped them with her hair. The house was filled with the fragrance of the perfume.

Lord Jesus before facing your greatest trial
you stopped off to enjoy the company of good friends;
they lavished their love upon you
without counting the cost
and without asking any questions.
We thank you for those friends
with whom we can be at complete ease
and who give us the strength to face our worst fears.
And we thank you for the true friendship of Jesus
who gives us the strength to take up our own cross
and follow where he leads.
Amen
