My peace, I give, unto you!

Luke 24: 36-43

While they were still talking about this, Jesus himself stood among them and said to them, “Peace be with you.”

37 They were startled and frightened, thinking they saw a ghost. 38 He said to them, “Why are you troubled, and why do doubts rise in your minds? 39 Look at my hands and my feet. It is I myself! Touch me and see; a ghost does not have flesh and bones, as you see I have.”

40 When he had said this, he showed them his hands and feet. 41 And while they still did not believe it because of joy and amazement, he asked them, “Do you have anything here to eat?” 42 They gave him a piece of broiled fish, 43 and he took it and ate it in their presence.

Lord,
Sometimes I don’t want to get up and face the day.
I want to hide under the sheets.
Especially when I have too many decision make.
Bills to be paid.
Housework to be complete.
Grass to cut.
And a path to weed.

Then Lord,
I worry about the future,
I wonder about my children and the company they keep.
I think of the news and the latest tragic murder.
I hear politicians on the television squabbling.
The next thing they are  asking for my vote !
My vote!
What does that mean?
What will it achieve?
I pull the covers back
I make my move.
Before long I’m standing on a train
hiding again among the passengers,
going to work,
going nowhere.

Its then I sometimes think I hear your voice,
keeping me on the right track.
whispering in time
across the sleepers
My peace, I give, unto you!
My peace, I give, unto you!
My peace , I give, unto you!
