God Has No Favourites

Acts 2

When the time comes,
I’ll pour out my Spirit
On those who serve me, men and women both,
and they’ll prophesy.

The story of God’s dealings with the children of Israel have often been misunderstood. To be chosen does mean that you are the favourite. Time and time again the god of the Hebrews relates that they are chosen as race to demonstrate the love of God for all. The prophet Jeremiah speaks of this. Abraham is reminded that God’s blessing on him is for all the nations of the world. The prophet Joel speaks of the day when God will pour out his Spirit on all people. Jesus is the new Adam the first of this new humanity.

Prayer
Lord, Let us speak for peace, always with justice in church,
in the shopping  mall, at the family table.
Let us listen to the songs of the young and
the considered reflection of those who display deep wisdom
teachers, thinkers, story tellers and poets.
As we discern your word for us,
May we
See you more clearly,
Love you more dearly and
Follow you more nearly this day.
Amen

May God be gracious to us and bless us and make His face to shine upon us
Psalm 67.1
