God Has No Favourites

Acts 2: 15

These people aren’t drunk as some of you suspect. They haven’t had time to get drunk—it’s only nine o’clock in the morning

Today we can give thanks for the gift of the Spirit.
The ever present enlivening Spirit of the God,
Yet sometimes we in Scotland confuse The Spirit with mere alcohol
Alcohol can help us relax, have a good time or forget something.
Yet God’s Spirit is wider, deeper and more powerful than any drug.

An African American Spiritual puts it this way

Monday gave me the gift of love,
Tuesday peace came from above,
Wednesday told me to have more faith,
Thursday gave me a little more grace,
Friday told me to watch and pray,
Saturday told me just what to say,
Sunday gave me the power divine,
Just to let my little light shine.

This little light of mine, I'm gonna let it shine.
Let us not glow following too many glasses of booze,
Instead let us shine with the Light of God.
Let us shine, let us shine, let us shine.
Amen
