Feeling ill equipped

Jeremiah 1:6-12

“O Sovereign Lord,” I said, “I can’t speak for you! I’m too young!”

The Lord replied, “Don’t say, ‘I’m too young,’ for you must go wherever I send you and say whatever I tell you. And don’t be afraid of the people, for I will be with you and will protect you. I, the Lord, have spoken!” Then the Lord reached out and touched my mouth and said,

“Look, I have put my words in your mouth!

Today I appoint you to stand up

against nations and kingdoms.

Some you must uproot and tear down,

destroy and overthrow.

Others you must build up

and plant.”

Then the Lord said to me, “Look, Jeremiah! What do you see?”

And I replied, “I see a branch from an almond tree.”
And the Lord said, “That’s right, and it means that I am watching, and I will certainly carry out all my plans.”

Exodus 3:11-12

But Moses protested to God, “Who am I to appear before Pharaoh? Who am I to lead the people of Israel out of Egypt?”

God answered, “I will be with you. And this is your sign that I am the one who has sent you:When you have brought the people out of Egypt, you will worship God at this very mountain.”

Lord,

As the enormity of the call on my life sinks in, I am overwhelmed by the things ahead of me.
The questions, the doubts, the fears flood in. I'm too young/old/ill-equipped, too this, too that.
Everything within me wants to flee but yet You draw me near.

This isn't about me, it's about You.

You take me by the hand. You show me Your provision. You remind me of Your promises. You reveal to me Your Presence. Never will You leave me. Never will You forsake me. What can man do to me?

Thank you Father that this is the truth.
That when You call, You equip, You provide and You surround me as I go.
May I be profoundly aware of this today as I follow You.
