Evangelism

February 03, 2013 0 0

Romans 10: 14, 15

“How, then, can they call on the one they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching to them? And how can anyone preach unless they are sent? As it is written, “How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news!”

The hymn says, “The Church’s one foundation is Jesus Christ her Lord,” so we will take it as read that all we pray for in and through the Church we do so in the name of Jesus.

We pray for evangelism to be a quintessential part of the life of the Church of Scotland

God of the beginning of all things, you brought all of creation into being, you gave life to all things living and breathed into humankind special favours. You redeemed us so that we could walk in the light and not in darkness. Now we pray that what has been our portion will become that of everyone. Endow the Church of Scotland with the will to preach faithfully the love of God in Jesus Christ, the determination to share it with others and the passion to prevail against all secular challenges. Remind us often that failure is never final for anyone whose heart is open to find a fresh start with the God of new beginnings.

Amen
