Ease The Weary

March 24, 2016 0 0

John 13:3-5

Jesus, knowing that the Father had given all things into his hands, and that he had come from God and was going to God, got up from the table, took off his outer robe, and tied a towel around himself.
Then he poured water into a basin and began to wash the disciples’ feet and to wipe them with the towel that was tied around him.

Lord Jesus,
no matter how close the trial and no matter how deep the shadow of the cross,
you still found time and space to serve others.

Forgive us that too often we want to be the ones who are served by others.
Remind us that the cross shaped space which we occupy is a place of service.
And that all around us are women and men whose feet need to be washed.

Inspire us to find ways of easing the aching feet and weary souls of those who are finding this life’s journey too much to bear.

Amen
