Dry ground

Genesis 1:9-13

And God said, “Let the water under the sky be gathered to one place, and let dry ground appear.” And it was so. God called the dry ground “land,” and the gathered waters he called “seas.” And God saw that it was good.

Then God said, “Let the land produce vegetation: seed-bearing plants and trees on the land that bear fruit with seed in it, according to their various kinds.” And it was so.  The land produced vegetation: plants bearing seed according to their kinds and trees bearing fruit with seed in it according to their kinds. And God saw that it was good.  And there was evening, and there was morning—the third day.

And God said…let dry ground appear…God called the dry ground ‘land’.....The land produced vegetation: plants bearing fruit according to their kind….

God, our Creator,

I praise you for this wonderful world.

Lord, I feel the ground beneath my feet.

I want to be grounded in God

knowing you are beneath me

unshakeable as rock.

Lord, I walk on the ground

going about my business of the day

remembering that whatever the day brings

I cannot fall off God.

Lord, I see on the dark ground

the first snowdrops

and the green shoots of daffodils

and I dare to believe that my winter

is over too.

God, our Creator,

I praise you for this wonderful world.

AMEN
