“Come, follow me,” Jesus said, “and I will send you out to fish for people.”
Lord,
You invite me to follow you
I must confess I feel a little apprehensive.
I want to make a commitment to the journey of faith
But I’m so unsure about so many things
How will this affect my relationships?
My career?
My bank balance?
My personality?
The thing is I want to follow you
but I’m not quite ready.
I wonder how much longer the invitation will last?
How long will you stand waiting for my response?
I ponder in my mind how I’d feel if you had never asked
Lord,
I feel like a swimmer standing on the edge of a pool
If I dive in
I’ll get wet
I might get hurt
Will I really get to swim?
If stand here on the edge
I’ll always be.
pondering,
wondering.
Lord,
Commitment demands a decision.
My decision.
