For, as I have often told you before and now say again even with tears, many live as enemies of the cross of Christ. Their destiny is destruction, their god is their stomach and their glory is in their shame. Their mind is on earthly things.
It doesn't seem to matter how often we are told the right thing to do,
our human frailty means that, more often than not, we hesitate.
We know we have a choice.
We can choose between life and death, blessings and curses.
Help us to choose life so that we can love you,
listen to your voice and hold fast to you.
Help us to resist the temptation to take the easy way.
And help us to reach out to the folk who have taken a different path
and to show them your love in practical caring,
in hospitality, in our willingness to forgive
and in what it means to us to have hope in you.
