Accepting: lifestyle choices that are true

Luke 10: 38 – 42

As they continued their travel, Jesus entered a village. A woman by the name of Martha welcomed him and made him feel quite at home. She had a sister, Mary, who sat before the Master, hanging on every word he said. But Martha was pulled away by all she had to do in the kitchen. Later, she stepped in, interrupting them. “Master, don’t you care that my sister has abandoned the kitchen to me? Tell her to lend me a hand.”

Are there some foundational values which we share with all our brothers and sisters worldwide, regardless of creed, colour or culture? This week we will explore through scripture and prayer some of the foundational values true to the Christian life and community: belonging, encircling, trusting, celebrating, accepting, challenging, letting go….

Accepting God: as you accepted each one of us with the uniqueness that we bring; as you honour and love each of us regardless of our gifts, orientation or status, so help us to accept all those around us in their God-given uniqueness so that we may truly love and accept the fullness of humanity and the glory of God in all. In Jesus’ name. Amen
