Romans 16: 7 (NRSVA)

7 Greet Andronicus and Junia, my relatives who were in prison with me; they are prominent among the apostles, and they were in Christ before I was.

Another snippet, little more than names but the importance they hold to Paul is clear. They were with him when he needed support. They hold wisdom borne from experience in a faith Paul is still relatively new to. Greet them, he advises. Welcome them, listen to them, see what I have seen in them.

I hope that all of you reading this are lucky enough to have known your own Andronicus or Junia. Someone who supported you, when you needed it. Someone who could offer you wisdom and experience in areas where you felt new or in over your head.

I hope some of us are lucky enough to be the Andronicus and Junia to people we know. To be their support and their wisdom when we have real wisdom to share.

PRAYER:

Dear God of wisdom

Lend us the words to know how to speak helpful truths

Lend us the strength to be a support to those around us

Send us your words of wisdom through the mouths of people around us

Send us strength and support when we are in need

Amen
