A Presence to proclaim

Matthew 5:10

“You’re blessed when your commitment to God provokes persecution. The persecution drives you even deeper into God’s kingdom.”

Homelessness Sunday

One day when John was singing in the street, he was challenged. ‘What are you singing?’ ‘I’m singing a hymn of praise to God.’ He proudly answered. ‘God?’ said the man, ‘You surely don’t believe in God?’ ‘Of course I do’ replied John. ‘Well if there is a God, where is he?’ demanded the man. John pointed to the sky and said He’s up there.’ He pointed at his heart and said ‘He’s in there!’ He made a wide sweep with his hands and said ‘And He’s everywhere.’ The man wasn’t satisfied and challenged; ‘Well if there is a God why hasn’t he done something to help you – why has he left you in the gutter?’ John simply said; ‘If a stable was good enough for my Lord Jesus, then the streets are good enough for me.’

Lord, today brings – a Presence to proclaim.
