A prayer of priorities

Listen to this daily worship
Luke 16: 10-13 (NIV)
10 “Whoever can be trusted with very little can also be trusted with much, and whoever is dishonest with very little will also be dishonest with much. 11 So if you have not been trustworthy in handling worldly wealth, who will trust you with true riches? 12 And if you have not been trustworthy with someone else’s property, who will give you property of your own?
13 “No one can serve two masters. Either you will hate the one and love the other, or you will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and money.”
Could you make a bit more noise, please God?
Only, it is hard to focus on you when the world around me is much lounder than you.
I am constantly being told to work harder and take self-care more seriously.
Or to eat homemade meals and exercise and get enough sleep.
Or to just create the next trend, the next viral video, the next craze to blaze a trail.
There are so many voices,
booming voices,
telling me to be bigger, better, more,
to want it all and have it.
In the midst of that clamour,
it can be tricky to hear your still, small voice;
to really tune in takes time, stillness, and patience,
all of which are in short supply.
So, if you could whisper a bit louder, God, I would greatly appreciate it.
Or, perhaps, give me the grace to realise
that the noise that distracts me
is not as interested in me as in what it can get from me,
and let me ignore it.
AMEN.
