Psalm 126: 5-6 (NIV)
5 Those who sow with tears
will reap with songs of joy.
6 Those who go out weeping,
carrying seed to sow,
will return with songs of joy,
carrying sheaves with them.
May we not ignore the pain of those around us.
Instead, may we hear the cries of the hungry and oppressed,
comprehending in them the call of Christ to the world.
May we not become numb to the suffering of others.
Instead, may we realise that empathy invites us into their lives,
through a sharing so deep, no words are required.
May we not wipe away our tears in haste or shame.
Instead, may we recognise them as drops of loving humanity,
desperately needed in a parched and hurting land.
May we hear.
May we feel.
May we respond.
In love.
AMEN.
