A hand to hold as we travel

Isaiah 40:4

Every valley shall be exalted and every mountain and hill made low, the crooked straight and the rough places plain.

Caring God, the road to Christmas is seldom smooth.  We find ourselves faced with unexpected problems.  Things cost more than we hoped.  Gifts we planned to find are no longer available.  Journeys we hoped to make are thwarted by bad weather.  Long before the birth of the Christ Child the Magi had left their homes to journey towards the star, bearing gifts, with no real knowledge of the King they would find, no understanding of the poverty and homelessness of the family they sought.  They travelled in faith, inspired by you, led and guided by you.  Their journey towards the Christ Child was longer and harder than ours.  They faced many more mountains and valleys but still they journeyed on. May we be inspired by them and by their faith.  With you behind us the deepest valleys will not hold us back, we can overcome the highest mountains and we will find our way, your way, clear ahead.
