Will someone come quickly, please…

John 8:12

Jesus once again addressed them: “I am the world’s Light. No one who follows me stumbles around in the darkness. I provide plenty of light to live in.”

Song (based on Psalm 6)

Lord, how long will you tarry?
Come quickly, come to my distress;
in kindness, rescue me from death,
let me see the day when I can praise you.

Prayer

Loving God, we sometimes walk, sometimes stumble
through life as if it were a waiting room:
as if we were in transit,
waiting for a new day,
a new job, a new task, a new purpose;
waiting for the world
to offer us meaning and value.

As we walk through this
waiting time of advent,
may we walk in your light,
knowing that this time of advent waiting can be
active, impatient, radical waiting.
And in this time of waiting may
we be drenched in the plentiful
light of your love.

Amen.
