Ephesians 3:1-13

For this reason I, Paul, a prisoner for Christ Jesus on behalf of you Gentiles— assuming that you have heard of the stewardship of God’s grace that was given to me for you, how the mystery was made known to me by revelation, as I have written briefly. When you read this, you can perceive my insight into the mystery of Christ, which was not made known to the sons of men in other generations as it has now been revealed to his holy apostles and prophets by the Spirit. This mystery is that the Gentiles are fellow heirs, members of the same body, and partakers of the promise in Christ Jesus through the gospel.

Of this gospel I was made a minister according to the gift ofGod’s grace, which was given me by the working of his power. To me, though I am the very least of all the saints, this grace was given, to preach to the Gentiles the unsearchable riches of Christ, and to bring to light for everyone what is the plan of the mystery hidden for ages in God who created all things, so that through the church the manifold wisdom of God might now be made known to the rulers and authorities in the heavenly places. This was according to the eternal purpose that he has realized in Christ Jesus our Lord, in whom we have boldness and access with confidence through our faith in him. So I ask you not to lose heart over what I am sufferingfor you, which is your glory.

Father God, we thank You that You are a missionary God and that You reach out to us with Your love and grace and forgiveness even though we don’t deserve them. We thank You that Your Son, Jesus Christ, was prepared to exchange His place by Your side in Heaven for His place in a cold and smelly stable in a war torn country so that He could become the Word made flesh and show us Your way and Your love, and to give us the chance to exchange our place on earth for a place in Heaven by Your side. We thank You for Jesus’ obedience to His mission and that He could say “It is finished!” as He fulfilled Your plan for His life on earth. We thank You Father that You loved the world so much that you were prepared to give Your precious Son for it and that He loved You so much, and us so much that He was prepared to give his very life for us and for You.

Father, when we look at the West we can see how far we have drifted and turned away from you. We fill our lives with things which take our focus away from you and the church and it’s people are often the same as the rest of society.

Father God forgive us and change us.

We ask that You would pour Your Spirit on the church in the West and revive it once again. We pray for our young people in the West many of whom grow up with only a passing knowledge of You and Your Word. We pray that you would bring them back to you. We ask that you would raise up a new generation of young people in the West who would love and follow You and be fearless about sharing Your good news with their friends and families and work colleagues.

We ask this praying knowing that what is impossible for men is possible for You

In Jesus’ name

Amen
